The Chemical treatment of oily wastewater

Public

This project was designed to find a new chemical combination, of a coagulant and polymer, to split an oily waste emulsion for the Wyman-Gordon Company's wastewater treatment. Various chemicals from different vendors were tested on a 3% oil solution, a hypothetical composite sample and actual samples from the waste collection system. Recommendations were made to Wyman-Gordon as to which chemical produced the best results of an oil/water separation and if the new chemicals would be cost effective.
