Transforming the Visual Arts: El Greco & Picasso
PublicThis Major Qualifying Project is a comparative study of El Greco and Picasso. Although different political, religious and cultural environments shaped their unique styles, the two artists share several striking similarities. Despite their obvious individuality, however, their artwork has come to represent Spanish art. While the Renaissance and Cubism represent two segments of Spanish art history, neither movement can be discussed without mentioning El Greco or Picasso, now considered two of Spain's most treasured artists.
