Alternative methods to determine heat release rates

Public

A new method is needed to determine that heat release rate (HRR) of a fire where the conventional method of oxygen consumption (OC) is not feasible. Steady-state ISO compartment fire tests were executed and several defining physical properties of the fire and compartment were measured. The data was used along with JASMINE, energy balances, and a zone model theory to calculate an HHR. Alternative methods for determining a fire's HHR have been confirmed via computational and OC validation.
