Quenching AL2024 in solutions of Aqua-Quench ?260

Public

This project used the CHTE device to test the behavior of Aluminum 2024 probes when quenched in aqueous polymer solutions containing Aqua Quench? 260. Eighty-one tests were done, varying: agitation and polymer concentration of the quench bath; probe temperature; bath temperature. Analysis was performed to compare heat transfer behavior to that of Aqua Quench? 251. Polymer concentration was found to have the most dramatic effect on cooling rates. Maximum heat transfer values ranged from 490 W/m?*K to 1570 W/m?*K.
