The Effects of stiffness on snowboard performance

Public

The project involved the design and manufacturing of two snowboards. Each snowboard was manufactured with a different longitudinal stiffness by varying the placement of fiberglass throughout the snowboard. Laboratory tests as well as slope tests were performed on the snowboards to determine the overall effect of longitudinal stiffness on snowboard performance. From the tests and research it was determined that a stiffer snowboard results in deeper carving and increased turning difficulty.
