Analyzing Microbial Interactions in the Gut Microbiome
PubblicoContenuto scaricabile
open in viewerProbiotics are used to maintain a healthy gut microbiome. Although Candida albicans is part of our natural microbiota, dysbiosis has been associated with Crohn’s disease and Irritable Bowel Syndrome. Our project evaluates the interactions between C. albicans and the probiotic Bacillus subtilis on the health and longevity of Caenorhabditis elegans, a model host. Our findings will identify genes and pathways that regulate microbial interactions in the gut and inform antifungal drug development.
