SDS polyacrylamide electrophoresis of proteins can be performed by capillary electrophoresis as an alternative to slab gels. We attempted to develop methods of using capillary electrophoresis to study membrane proteins extracted from the human erythrocyte. A number of cytoskeletal membrane proteins were detected, but the method for intrinsic membrane proteins needs further development.
