Ellis-van Creveld syndrome is associated with mutations in EVC and EVC2 genes, whose functions remain unknown. The purpose of this MQP was to obtain clues to the functions of EVC and EVC2 proteins using immunocytochemistry and immunoblots. Localization of the EVC2 protein suggests that the EVC2 protein is found in the nucleus, but is absent in some patients. The EVC protein normally appears in a peri-nuclear location. This research should provide information that helps identify the function of these proteins.
