The Expression of ependymin in C. elegans

Public

A sequence coding for the glycoprotein ependymin is present within highly conserved gene regions of various vertebrate species. Previous work in our lab confirmed the expression of ependymin in an invertebrate (the horseshoe crab). This project utilized immunostaining in conjunction with transmission electron microscopy to test for the expression of ependymin in the nematode Caenorhabditis elegans. Anti-ependymin-like immunoreactivity was observed, most notably within the cuticle region of the L2 larval stage.
