Characterization of carbon-carbon composites

Public

Thin porous carbon-carbon composite paper is a candidate for use in proton exchange membrane fuel cells. These carbon-carbon papers will be assembled in the cell in compression. It will be necessary to understand the constitutive behavior of these materials for the cells to be assembled and to function in a predictable manner. Preliminary test indicated that the material might be strain rate sensitive. In this work, the material was tested at three different strain rates and showed some strain rate sensitivity.
