Student Work

An active power factor compensator

Public

This MQP presents an H-bridge based compensator controlled by either analog circuits or a DSP. The goal of this work was to design and implement a power factor corrector used to eliminate current harmonics and compensate for out of phase current produced by real loads. The analog system uses an op-amp and comparator based controller to control the switching of the H-bridge while the digital system uses a DSP for control. The analog control system is the main part of this report, a DSP based approach is presented as an alternative possibility.
