Public opinion is an integral component to land preservation decision making which previous prioritization systems have neglected. To address this, a process was created which incorporates public opinion into the land preservation process. A GIS based framework was used to generate prioritization maps from community member rankings in a focus group setting. This process is effective in gaining a better understanding of the public prioritization preferences, and can be used to build consensus in the local community.
