Selection of the best hot mix asphalt paving material and mixture for Logan International Airport

Public

Pavement rutting is a major problem for taxiways, alleyways and runways at Logan International Airport, Boston MA. Significant costs are incurred when pavements are rehabilitated or reconstructed. The objective of this project is to select the best mix for Logan Airport. The scope of work included a literature review, testing of samples, use of layered elastic design software for cost comparisons and recommendations. The RAP P401 with SBR latex and PG 64-28 was found to be the best pavement mix.
