FSAE formula-1 race car (suspension/body)

Public

Aerodynamic loads can directly affect the performance of a vehicle as in the case of a drag force, or indirectly as in the case of a lift or downforce. Both acceleration and braking create vehicle pitch which can interact unfavorable with aerodynamics. The initial goal of this project was to understand the effect of aerodynamics and design a body that utilized aerodynamic loading for quality race performance. Due to a number of factors, this goal was not achieved, however, presented herein are both the fundamental theory and the considerations that would have been taken to achieve this goal if time and circumstances permitted.
