The COVID-19 pandemic has drastically altered daily life for most Americans. To shed light on unexplored topics related to the disease, this project utilized datasets from the CDC to answer unique questions about COVID-19. The team focused on certain states, regions, and demographics to identify specific areas where researchers and healthcare professionals can direct their attention to mitigate the negative effects of the disease. The project aimed to expand on current findings or answer previously unaddressed questions, while exploring the impact of COVID-19 on society. Using the PANDAS library in Python, the team cleaned and manipulated data before creating visualizations using Tableau. The team explored 24 questions, including the connection between COVID-19 deaths and county income, the relationship between vaccinations and region type, and the impact of state mandates on food scarcity. The research provides insight into the social, economic, and wellbeing impact of COVID-19 on the US population. The team hopes that their work will help researchers choose new paths of research and contribute to a better understanding of the long-term effects of COVID-19 on society.
