Electrohydrodynamic pump performance assessment

Public

Testing of a mesoscale conduction pump was conducted. Using temperature, delta-pressure, voltage and current data the mass flow rate of the pump was calculated. Two mass flow rate results were calculated, one by heat transfer and another by delta-pressure analysis. Using the results obtained from the conduction pump experiments the calculated mass flow rates were applied to a theoretical heat loop. The GSFC (Goddard Space Flight Center) was interested in determining whether the pump tested would be capable of cooling a laser with a heat flux of 25 W/cm?. A preliminary theoretical model for a heat transfer loop that would cool such a laser was designed.
