The goal of this project was to design a solenoid operated check valve incorporating the current check valve design of Ward Valve Co. With the 1/2 inch check valve provided, we calculated the necessary force and stroke values required for our solenoid. Working in junction with Runton Engineering, a local solenoid manufacturer, we were able to obtain a working prototype of a 115-volt A/C powered solenoid operated check valve that was tested and proven operational up to 180 psi.
