Design and validation of a rotating apparatus for an EB-PVD TBC chamber model

Public

The purpose of this project was to design and utilize the physical model to simulate shadowing effects in an EB-PVD TBC chamber by recording light intensity measurements via photocells on a rotating turbine blade. The data was recorded and analyzed; the model was proven an accurate representation of the coater. The experimental results can be correlated to coating thickness so that a mathematical model can be developed and used in conjunction with the physical model to make future predictions.
