open in viewerUrban farmers everywhere are experiencing difficulty becoming profitable and sustaining their businesses. Sponsored by John Stoddard, owner of Higher Ground Farm in Boston, Massachusetts, this project aims to assess the feasibility of adding heliciculture, or snail farming, to his farm as a way to expand and increase profitability. Written in the context of Higher Ground Farm, this project also intends to serve as a more general model for urban farmers exploring heliciculture or other niche markets.
