Virtual design and preliminary evaluation of a cranial perforator testing device

Public

The design of a cranial perforator test cell was completed. The key features of this cell are a linear axis table, robotic manipulator, load cell, and ball-screw drive motor. The results of the testing cell will be used to exhibit the effects of torque, vibration, etc. on the perforator itself. With further experimentation, the test cell will allow for the determination of quantitative benchmarks for manufactured perforators, and will take the responsibility of testing out of the hands of test engineers and completely automate the process.
