This project involves the design and testing of an 18-bit/44.1kHz stereo digital microphone. The digital microphone will incorporate onboard analog-to-digital conversion, digital audio transmission in S/PDIF format, and fiber optic transmitters and receivers for transmission of digital S/PDIF and clocking signals. The project also includes a special microphone cable design, to carry all necessary fiber optic and power signals.
