Emission database

Covanta Energy Corporation (CAE) is a multinational corporation that owns, operates and maintains twenty-six power-generating facilities in the United States. An unavoidable by-product of CEA's operations is the release of emissions into the environment. CAE monitors these emissions through third-party contractors who audit each plant to determine the levels of different released emissions. The contractors generate soft copy reports, which are extremely lengthy and have proven difficult to maintain. As a result, CAE asked four Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) students to develop a database management system that would allow for emission data to be imported and subsequently searched.

  • This report represents the work of one or more WPI undergraduate students submitted to the faculty as evidence of completion of a degree requirement. WPI routinely publishes these reports on its website without editorial or peer review.
