This project studied the changing trends in democratization and integration in Europe from about 1300 to present. The European Historic Combat Guild (EHCG) which interprets and recreates European martial arts, is used as an example of a modern European community to demonstrate democratization and integration when compared with how European historical combat was studied over five hundred years ago. The case study of the EHCG indicates that Europe has become democratized and more integrated.
