This paper explores the possibilities and problems of establishing a functional, sustainable automation system on the lunar surface. It examines what resources become available to Earth should humans colonize the Moon, studies how humanity may live long-term on the Moon, and investigates the processes and materials required. Finally, this paper investigates how the various resources present on the Moon can be utilized to establish a more accessible means of space transportation from Earth to other celestial objects in the solar system.
