Suppression of the HR by TCV in A. thaliana

In resisting pathogenic attack, plants utilize multiple defense mechanisms, including the Hypersensitive Response. This project used the Arabidopsis thaliana/Turnip Crinkle Virus model system to determine which genes are being differentially expressed when the hypersensitive response of A. thaliana is suppressed by TCV. This project tested the expression changes in 8 of 9 genes identified in a microarray study and used RT-PCR to find 2 genes that show 3-fold increases in expression when A. thaliana is inoculated with TCV.
