Post-Mortem Pb Detection in Birds
PubblicoContenuto scaricabile
open in viewerOne objective of this study was to determine the accuracy of the LeadCare174 System in testing the lead (Pb) content of post-mortem body fluids in birds. Birds brought to the Tufts Wildlife Clinic that died or were euthanized were frozen then thawed before necropsy. Post-mortem fluid tests were comparable to pre-mortem blood samples. Another objective was to compile the Pb levels of all patients tested from 2002-2006. Elevated Pb levels were detected in species not typically associated with Pb exposure.
