Transgenic Animals
PublicDownloadable Content
open in viewerThis project details transgenic animal technology, applications, ethics and legalities, as an example of technology's impact on society. A transgenic animal has been genetically engineered to incorporate a foreign gene. Transgenic animals can be used as disease models, transpharmers, xenotransplanters, food sources, and other biological models. Although transgenic animals have clearly been documented to benefit society, this technology must weigh these benefits against the potential detriments to the animals or the environment.
