Design of a control system for a high lift wing with flaps for WPI's Discovery Classroom

Public

The purpose of this project is to develop and implement a control system for a high lift wing with flaps. The wing is intended to be used as a demonstration tool in the subsonic aerodynamics and control courses taught at WPI. Preceding the controller design, it was necessary to make substantial improvements to the flap motion of the wing which had been designed by an earlier MQP team. The objective of the controller was to automatically adjust the flap angle to achieve a desired lift. A LabVIEW interface/data display was also developed for general wind-tunnel demonstrations.
