The redesign of the Union Station rail viaduct

Public

This project, sponsored by the Worcester Redevelopment Authority, is the redesign of the Union Station rail viaduct over Harding Street. The goal is to make the area under the viaduct open to natural sunlight and to create more space through reducing the total number of columns so as to provide for an open-air marketplace and bus station. The through-girder bridge and passenger spans not only meet these criteria, but also allow for two piece construction.
