The Massachusetts State Police IT Unit is currently using an inventory tracking system that performs tasks such as maintaining a list of computer equipment currently owned by the State Police. Unfortunately it does not allow for adequate tracking of equipment locations and can be cumbersome to use. After analyzing the needs of the staff, the team designed and implemented a custom web-based inventory tracking system using technologies such as Active Server Pages and handheld bar code readers.
