Evaluating Multimerization of Apoptin Homologs

open in viewerPCV1 VP3, is homologous to Apoptin. Apoptin is known to self-multimerize and induce apoptosis in cancerous cells. Due to their similarities, it is important to determine if multimerization is a crucial component in the apoptosis. To investigate this, GFP and FLAG tagged VP3 constructs of PCV1 were transfected into H1299 cells. The VP3 interaction was then analyzed using co- immunoprecipitation and flow cytometry. Preliminary analysis showed that PCV1 VP3 does not multimerize, however further experiments are required to confirm this.
