Thoreau's role in a scientific society
PublicDownloadable Content
open in viewerHenry David Thoreau, highly appreciated as a 19th century transcendentalist and literary figure, also deserves recognition for his role in the emerging field of ecology at a time when the prevalent science was taxonomy. His position in the scientific community can be determined by carefully analyzing both his own works as well as those of contemporaries, critics and modern day scientists. An educational course will be outlined in the hopes that others will further explore his scientific relevance.
