Design and Analysis of a Neck-Support-Incorporated Helmet for Reducing the Risk of Concussion in Ice Hockey
公开可下载的内容
open in viewerThis project attempted to reduce the risk of concussion for ice hockey players by incorporating neck support into a helmet. This support utilizes dilatant fluids to provide a restoring moment during impact to reduce head acceleration. Computational analysis and mathematical modelling were performed to establish the desired design specifications. A pneumatic impact test with a head-form equipped with accelerometers was constructed for evaluation. The head impact power equation will be used to determine whether the prototype reduces risk of concussion.
