Improving Two-Stage Revision Arthroplasty Utilizing 3-D Scanning
PubblicoThere is an increasing prevalence of septic hip revision arthroplasties; however, there exists a lack of accessibility for surgeons to devices needed to provide necessary treatment. To increase surgeon accessibility to revision materials, we propose a device to improve the current state of performing a 2-stage hip revision arthroplasty. Utilizing 3D-scanning, we can produce disposable molds to form antibiotic-loaded PMMA spacers. This allows surgeons to use surgical broaches and implants already stocked, at a reduced cost compared to existing techniques.
