Dig Safe Buried Cable Detection
PublicDownloadable Content
open in viewerUnderground power cables must be marked by utility providers before any groundbreaking work can be performed on a work site. Currently, technicians mark cables by hand, and with seasonal fluctuations in the demand for the service, technicians cannot always do so efficiently. This project aims to create an autonomous robot and supporting documentation to increase the efficiency of the cable marking process. The robot is intended to navigate a work site, detect buried cables, and accurately mark them in compliance with Massachusetts law.
